This is a beautifully bound antique volume titled “Sketch of the History of the Church of England to the Revolution 1688” by Thomas Vowler Short, D.D., Lord Bishop of St. Asaph. This is the fifth edition, published in 1848 by John W. Parker, West Strand, London. Bound in full calf leather, the cover features an intricate gilt armorial emblem from St. Bee’s College, with the Latin inscription “Collegium Sancte Rege Theologicum.” The spine is richly gilt in decorative compartments with raised bands, showing fine craftsmanship typical of 19th-century prize bindings. The book includes beautiful marbled endpapers and a bookplate for Rev. A.
